Unless you are actively kicking up a sweat at the gym, excessive sweating can make you feel uncomfortable and out of place. It can also interfere with social, romantic and professional encounters and have a significant impact on your quality of life. Hyperhidrosis usually starts in adolescence or young adulthood. Some sweating are worst in the underarms. When excessive sweating is limited to these areas, it's called focal hyperhidrosis.
How it works: Botox neurotoxin is a purified protein that helps control sweating by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands, thereby preventing sweat from being produced in the treatment area. During the procedure, our medical practitioner will inject diluted Botox into each armpit. Topical anesthetic cream can be applied before the procedure for better comfort.
How long does the treatment take? On average, each treatment takes 10-20 minutes.
How long does it take to reduce the sweating? The reduction of sweating begins to take effect within the first few days but may take at least a week to reach full effectiveness.
Are there any side effects to the Botox treatment? If side effects do occur, they are usually temporary. These include minor bruising and swelling at the treatment area.
How long does it last? After the Botox injections have been administered, hyperhidrosis is usually controlled for 6-8 months. On average, repeat treatments are required every 6 months as the effects begin to diminish.
